Mike hails from Wales where he had a career as a commercial fisherman and oyster farmer. He came to Australia as a self-funded retiree, but needed to do something, so followed his nose back into oyster farming.

Mike knows the marine environment well and prides himself on running a tight ship. He believes that one of the secrets to growing good oysters is being careful and well organized so that the product is well looked after at all stages. For him it’s about being in tune with how oysters respond to their environment.

Wapengo Lake is fed by a single creek running down from an overlooking mountain. The environmentally minded community ensures the waterway is kept clean and pristine. Australian oysters are a food for the people, and Mike wants to make sure they have the best experience possible.
