Gary was a crop farmer and then went to oyster farming for a sea change. He loves the outdoors and the ocean, so when he heard of work in the oyster industry, he jumped at the chance. He doesn’t have a large farm, so he dedicates much of his time to each of his oysters to maximize their performance.
When asked what he loves about it, he says, “I get that thrill of watching my oysters grow and seeing the end product. I enjoy the sense of achievement. I like having a small operation that I can handle by myself and do my own thing. I definitely don’t ever get sick of the clean air and peaceful environment.”
Aside from farming, he loves to play footy and spend time outdoors with his wife and two kids. Together they enjoy caravanning, camping and fishing.
